A wet film humidifier operates based on the principle of evaporative cooling, where water is evaporated into the air, thereby increasing humidity. The key steps in its working principle are as follows:

  1. Water Distribution: Water is continuously pumped to the top of the humidifier unit and distributed over a specially designed wet film, which is typically made of a porous material, such as a synthetic fiber or cellulose.

  2. Wet Film Surface: The wet film acts as a medium for water retention, and the water spreads across the surface of the film, creating a large area of exposed water.

  3. Airflow through the Film: Dry air is drawn into the humidifier and forced to pass through the wet film. As the air passes through the moist surface, water molecules from the film evaporate into the air.

  4. Evaporation Process: The heat from the passing air causes the water on the film to evaporate. During this process, the air absorbs moisture, raising the relative humidity of the air.

  5. Humidified Air Output: The humidified air is then released into the surrounding space, increasing the humidity of the environment.
